Dr Daryl Dodt
Personal care for the whole family!
Daryl is our Founding GP and practice principal. He has four children, his older daughter and son have completed university and his two younger boys attend school in Gympie. He was born in Gympie and has been a teacher in many Gympie and Queensland schools prior to commencing his medical career . He was the President of the Rural Medical club at University of Queensland (TROHPIQ Towards Rural and Outback Health Professionals in Queensland www.trohpiq.org ) for the duration of his medical training. He also was awarded two scholarships during his training
He is uniquely equipped to cater for the health needs of any local family
Daryl has been working as a GP in Gympie for 20 years. His vision is to provide a new progressive and dynamic practice in Gympie.
Daryl’s medical background includes working as a GP at various practices throughout Gympie. He worked as an Emergency Department Registrar at Gympie General Hospital and has done training and worked in Orthopaedics, Surgery, Medicine, Palliative Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, etc in Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals and in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Herston. He returned to his home town to enter General Practice as he was aware of the need for competent family medical practitioners in Gympie.
Whilst working as a full time GP, Daryl was also employed as admitting doctor for the Gympie Private Hospital for twelve years, providing 24 hour inpatient care for patients throughout the Gympie and South Burnett until 2016.
Daryl is adept to deal with all aspects of your medical care: Orthopaedics, Pain Management, Diabetes, Hypertension, Chronic Illnesses, Preventative Medicine, Men’s Health, Antenatal Care and Mental Health.
Daryl has great empathy and is committed to his patients and known to go above and beyond to meet his patient’s needs. He believes in empowering patients to achieve their own health goals.When Daryl isn’t at work he will be with family and friends, or playing music. He often volunteers his musical talent to various causes and continues to perform regularly. Tahlia joined our team in 2024 as our practice nurse!
She is friendly, comforting, knowedgable and warm. Her primary role is supporting Dr Dodt in providing quality care for patients, and managing patient health within her vast skill set. She worked in the public health system for many years, before relocating and joining the Nashville Medical team.
When she is not working, she loves embracing her creative side and spending quality time with friends and family.
